Believe it or not, i did mine in 5 minutes. After getting extremely frustrated knowing it shouldn't take half as long as it was taking, I sat and brai…

Cleaning and Flushing your Brake Systems
----
The FZR series motorcycles are an aging line of bikes, and with a little TLC these bikes will be on the road for many years to come and will be safe to ride.

From the Vintage Japanese list:

A while ago, Chris posted a message asking about alternative methods
for cleaning all the crud of aluminium engine parts

....here's one to try...
Grab yourself a large saucepan, big enough for the item to be completely
submerged, fill up with water and cut up 2 or 3 lemons in small
pieces and put into the water. Bring to the boil and then turn the heat right down
and simmer for up to an hour.

Parts required:

The coils I used were Denso part number 129700-3881. This is available off the following bikes:

I have always made mine out of 6061 T6 because it is inexpensive and strong enough. If you can get it, go with 7075 T6. It is about three times as much but is almost double the strength rating. 2024 has about a 7k lb higher rating than 6061 but isn't as easy to come by and doesn't weld very well. Not that there will be welding of …

I wanted to keep my graphics, so I started looking for a donor piece, which I got from a fellow enthusiast. I had to use some of the extra plastic to fill the gap, as measurements were a little off, after cutting the pieces to fit, I took a razor blade and cut the edges of the piece so that when placed into my fairing there is a V along the crack.
Fork Seal Replacement

This is a general procedure for replacing the fork seals for an FZR 400 or FZR600. The fork seals for the FZR400s and FZR600s are the same and so are the procedures for replacing them. The FZR 400 and 600 forks are identical in overall length and diameter. The forks for a 600 will fit a 400 and vice versa. The only difference between the 400 and 600 forks is the length of the springs and the collar (spacer under the cap bolt). The 400 has a longer spring and short collar. …

I have chatted with Jim Stewart, AKA Jaques Strappe, for the last 12-14 years or so via various biking email lists. I have come to respect the man's depth of knowledge of bikes and in later days his ability as a machinist. If he says he is not sure, he means it, and if asked and he does not know there will be no BS just a simple “sorry you got me on that one.”

There are two types of FZR600's, pre and post Dec '93. They're completely different animals.

Launched in Feb 89', the Genesis had the slanted engine of the FZ750 and thou Genesis, but with four valves, not five. It had a Deltabox frame, 38mm forks, monoshock, 2-pot calipers, naff-all weight and killer steering.

Based upon FZR600 stock sprocket gearing, but the ratios are the same for all bikes. The top speed is for the FZR600 with stock rims.

This is not to be confused with the transmission gearing.

Cheap Ignition Advance

Okay, here's my first 'how to'.

This is a cheap alternative to the $50+ offset woodruff key that Factory Pro sells to increase base ignition advance. Adding advance will give the engine more punch throughout the rev range.

One advantage of this is that the engine will properly time (by the book) if you have the cams out, or if you adjust/degree cam timing..without having to remove the flywheel and re-install the stock flywheel key.

First i'll deal with the blinker/turn warning lamp, this changes polarity, power comes from the blinker's that are on, it earth's/grounds via the blinkers that are off, i.e the bulbs 2 wires are connected to right blinker & left blinker positive feeds, so we need diodes fitted. Otherwise the blinkers would act as Hazard Warning Lights.

The first impulse when seeing the 17th inquiry in a particular month is to cry “RTFM!”, followed closely by “Use the f'n search!” With that out of my system, I will acknowledge that the manual is a) difficult to read sometimes and b) not readily to hand in all garages; that, and the …

There is not a lot of options available along the lines of three way led lights to act as Ride Lights and turn signals. I spent a lot of time online, researching my options, and finally, after a lot of research, have come up with a way to have a simple led act as both a Ride light & turn signal, for around 3 dollars in parts, and around 30 minutes of work.

The 2005 R6 throttle cables are too long for the FZR so you must use the stock cable. After taking the 2005 R6 controls off, I drilled out the left hole so that it was circular. Not sure what size drill bit I used but my FZR cable housing fits in there incredibly snug. I have no worries about it coming out. The stock FZR “C” sh…

What you'll need:

	* 06-08 R6 shock (earlier years WON'T work without alot more work)
	* Spacers
	* Dog bones
	* I also recommend a heavier spring for the fzr600, around a 650-750lbs, the stock r6(~500lbs) is perfect for the fzr400.

The Shock:

These can be picked up of eBay for next to nothing ~$25.00USD.

:!:You will need to round the lower shock mount so that it clears the suspension knuckle.:!:

Heres my write up on mounting R6 rearsets on the FZR frame. I hope this can be understood it looks kind of complicated.

The exaust may have to be adjusted or a new pipe added in order to clear the new rearsets. All of the aluminum is T-6061 bought from speedy metals( they sell small cuts of metal -aluminum, chrome alloy, steel, and the threaded rod etc..) for strength.

If you are thinking about building a carb sync tool, then I would recommend using the 2-bottle method.
I just used it and it works wonders! SUPER fine tuning...My bike revs so smooth now. it sounds so beautiful.Iv tried the stick and tubing method, all telecharger poker I can say is, it sucks and you can risk sucking liquid into your motor.

If your main chip is fried err well your on your own until some guru down loads the contents and make a program to upload to a fresh chip.
