I've recently installed an R6 front end on my 1WG with 310mm rotors, radial calipers and master cylinder. Trust me that is a fair bit of brakes for that bike. Current stopping ability is vastly improved and very welcomed, but I have yet to worry about an endo.
FZR400 (1WG): Purchased a perfectly good FZR400 with Yoshimura slip-on/EXUP, Yosh jet kit, Factory ignition advance, Racetech springs and emulators. It even had great bodywork. Like some diseased maniac I had to mess with everything good about that bike. Well, at least I have better brakes now.

FZR400RR (3TJ):Yeah, it's pink.

I see your inclined to research other options. Given that the piston size is unknown. Why don't you research that? While you are at it, you should find out how many calipers and what size pistons were used on the bikes that it was specified for. Then compare that to the calipers that you plan to use. If they are similar enough, you could give it a try, and report your results. If not, find something else. (YZF600, R6, R1, ZX6, CBR).

Hi,
I thought that I had made it clear as to why the mod was a good deal by stating that the new master cylinder from an R6 is what adds the edge to the blue spots over the old set up.

That the difference was because of the mechanical advantage given by the R6 M/cylinder bore to the bores of the blue spot caliper.

If you know that the M/c you have seen on Ebay is the same as the R6 then fine other than that you could be buying yourself something that will under power your brakes with tragic results.

I have just decided to get the R6 calipers and master cylinder after reading all this, its not that much money, and the increased braking power is going to be worth it. That master i was looking at is for a ex 250 or 500 with a 14mm piston, they do make ones for the frz 400, with a 12.7 mm piston, but after reading your guys post i will just do the R6 upgrade .

I was trying to save some money, but really with the front rebuild and new master its so close to R6 ones, that i will just switch them over. Now if you guys could just solve my handlebar switch and throttle problem i would be

YG is correct. wow, that never happens! the master cylinder is what helps out the brake. I switched to the blue spots, strictly from a look standpoint a while back. i didnt feel very much difference. when i added the r6 master cylinder, it made a huge difference. Steel brake lines will complete the set, as the rubber ones will flex a bit under hard braking. I have 400 front forks on my bike, and they bolt right up. nuff said.

as for accidentally flipping your bike when someone pulls out, this can be rectified by practice and learning your bike and how to ride it. empty parking lots and practice. please dont mistake this comment for me saying someone isnt a good rider, but mistakes under pressure situations can happen, not every incident can be accounted for, but to know how YOUR bike reacts under certain situations will help you to avoid costly mistakes.
I did that.
